Terms of Use
The short version
- You need to be at least 13 to use the app.
- The app makes an account for you automatically the first time you open it. You do not sign up.
- Questions you write are read by a moderator before anyone else sees them, and can be turned down without a reason being given.
- The name you type for Rooms and Duels is shown to other players. Every Duel is open to strangers, so a player you have never met sees that name. Do not use your real name.
- Gems are a game currency. They are not money, they cannot be cashed out, and they cannot be moved to another player.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. Refunds go through Google Play, not through us.
- You can delete your account from inside the app. We can suspend an account that breaks the content rules.
This summary is not the agreement. The sections below are.
1. Accepting these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and BL Apps Management AB ("we", "us"). They cover the Would You Rather mobile app and the online services behind it.
You accept them by using the app. The app creates an account for you the moment you first open it, so in practice you accept these terms the first time you open it. If you do not accept them, uninstall the app.
How we handle your data is described separately in our Privacy Policy. Read it alongside these terms.
2. Who can use the app
You must be at least 13 years old to use this app. If the minimum age for using an online service without a parent's permission is higher where you live, that higher age applies to you.
The app does not ask you for your date of birth, so we cannot check your age. That does not change the rule. If you are under 13, do not use the app. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child under 13 is using it, email support@blmapp.se. If we can identify the account, we will suspend it, delete the account and the data attached to it, and anonymise anything it submitted. Accounts are anonymous, so tell us as much as you can about the device and about any Google account linked to it — without that we may not be able to find it.
You may not use the app if we have previously suspended an account of yours, or if the law where you live does not allow you to use it.
3. Your account
It is created for you. When you first open the app it creates an anonymous account automatically. There is no sign-up form, no username and no password. The account is a random identifier that your gems, streaks, unlocked categories, submitted questions and votes are saved against.
Signing in with Google is optional. You can link your account to a Google account so that your progress survives a reinstall or a new phone. You do not have to.
An anonymous account cannot be recovered. If you have not linked a Google account and you uninstall the app, or you clear its data, the app creates a brand-new account the next time you open it. Your gems, unlocks and streaks are attached to the old account and there is no way for us to find it or give it back to you. This is a direct result of the account being anonymous, and it is the reason the Google sign-in option exists.
One account per person. Do not create extra accounts to get around a suspension, to farm rewards, or to vote on your own submissions more than once.
You are responsible for what happens on your account, including anything submitted from a device you let someone else use.
4. Your name in Rooms and Duels
Rooms and Duels ask you to type a display name, up to 40 characters. It is free text.
That name is shown to other players, and some of them are strangers. In a Room, everyone in the Room sees it.
Every Duel you start is open to strangers. When you create a challenge it goes into a shared pool, and the first player who picks it up sees the name you typed before they decide to accept. There is currently no friends-only Duel and no setting that keeps a challenge private.
If you answer someone else's challenge, the name you typed appears in the notification sent to the player who set it. A challenger's own name is not pushed to anyone.
So: do not use your real name, your email address, your phone number, a school name, or anything else you would not want a stranger to read. The name rules in section 5 apply to display names too.
Display names are not screened automatically. We only see one if it is reported to us, or if we come across it while moderating. Your display name is never attached to a question you submit.
5. Rules for what you submit
Anyone can suggest a "would you rather" question, and an approved question is shown to every player in the app. Because of that, what you write has to stay inside these rules. They apply to submitted questions and to display names.
This is a party game, and awkward, gross or embarrassing questions are the whole point. Being edgy is fine. These are the lines:
- Nothing sexual involving children. Any sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form, real or fictional. This is the one rule where we act first and ask later, and we report what the law requires us to report.
- No harassment. Do not target a real person. No questions written at, about, or to humiliate someone.
- No hate speech. No slurs. Nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- No personal information about anyone. Not yours and not anyone else's: no names of private individuals, phone numbers, email addresses, home or school addresses, social media handles, or links. Submissions are public once approved, so a phone number in one reaches everybody.
- No spam or advertising. No promotion, no referral codes, no links, no invitations to move the conversation to another app or platform.
- No sexual content involving adults either. The app is for players aged 13 and up and explicit sexual content does not belong in it.
- Nothing illegal, and no instructions for causing harm. This includes encouraging self-harm, suicide, or violence against anyone.
- Do not impersonate anyone, including us.
Only submit something you wrote yourself. Do not paste in someone else's writing.
6. Review before your question appears
Here is what actually happens to a question you submit.
- An automatic check runs first. A small set of patterns is rejected outright at the moment you press send — the categories where a mistake is unacceptable, plus phone numbers, email addresses and links. If it catches your submission you get a short refusal that does not say which rule you hit. That is deliberate: telling someone exactly what to edit is telling them how to get through. General rudeness or profanity is not auto-rejected.
- Then a person reads it. Your question is stored with the status "pending" and is not visible to any other player. A moderator approves it, rejects it, or hides it.
- You can watch its status in the app, in Community, under "Mine". We do not send you a message when a decision is made.
We can reject a submission without giving a reason, and we do not have to tell you which rule it fell foul of. There is no formal appeal process, and we are not promising one here. You can write to support@blmapp.se about a decision, and a person will read it, but we are not committing to a reply or to a deadline.
Two other things the app does that you may notice:
- There is a daily cap on how many questions one account can submit.
- If someone has already suggested the same pair of options, yours is turned down as a duplicate.
Approval is not an endorsement. A question in the app is something a player wrote, not something we wrote or agree with.
7. Reporting, blocking and suspension
Reporting. Every player-submitted question has a report button, in the Community feed. You pick a reason from a fixed list — sexual content, violence, hate or harassment, spam or advertising, or something else. There is no free-text box, on purpose: a free-text field attached to anonymous accounts becomes its own abuse channel.
What a report does. Reports go into a moderation queue, oldest complaint first. When enough different players report the same question, it is hidden from everyone automatically while it waits for a moderator, so bad content does not stay up until somebody wakes up. A moderator then approves it back, rejects it, or leaves it hidden. Repeated reports from the same account count once.
Blocking. You can block the author of a question. You stop seeing what they submit, straight away, with no review and no waiting. The person you blocked is not told. You can undo it in Settings. Blocking is your own filter; reporting is what asks us to look.
What reporting does not cover. There is no way to report a player directly. To bring a player to our attention, report one of their questions or write to support@blmapp.se; blocking them is your own filter and is not seen by us. The questions that come with the app are written by us rather than submitted by players, and they have no report button.
Suspension. We can suspend an account that breaks the rules in section 5, that abuses the reporting system, or that attacks the service. A suspension takes effect immediately, including on any device already signed in. A suspended account can no longer submit, vote, report, buy anything, or join Rooms and Duels — the online part of the game stops working for it.
We can also remove or hide any submitted content at any time, including content that was previously approved.
8. Playing with other people
Rooms and Duels put you in a game with other people, and in Duels that can be a stranger who picked your open challenge out of a shared pool.
- In a Duel, the answers you give are shown to your opponent when the Duel is scored. In a Room, your answers for each round are shown to the other players in that Room. They are not private.
- Your display name travels with them. See section 4.
- Rooms and Duels are short-lived. A Room stops working a few hours after it is created and a Duel expires about a week after it is created, whether or not it was finished.
Other players are not us. We do not vet them, and we are not responsible for how they behave. If someone behaves badly, use the report and block tools, and email support@blmapp.se if it is serious.
9. Gems
Gems are the in-game currency. You earn them by playing — correct answers, finishing a category, daily rewards, streaks — or by choosing to watch a rewarded ad, or by buying a gem pack. You spend them on unlocking categories, skipping a question, peeking at a result, and extra time.
Some things about gems that are worth being blunt about:
- Gems are not money. They have no cash value, they are not a balance held for you, and they are not property. You are given a limited, personal, revocable permission to use them inside this app — nothing more.
- Gems cannot be cashed out and cannot be exchanged for anything outside the app.
- Gems cannot be transferred to another player or another account.
- Gems are attached to your account. If you delete your account, or you lose access to an anonymous account, the gems on it are gone. We cannot move them or restore them.
- We can change the economy. Prices, earn rates, the daily cap on rewarded ads, and what gems can be spent on can all change in a future version of the app.
- If we stop running the app, gems stop existing with it.
Rewarded ads are capped per day, per account. This is not a punishment — without a cap, the balance stops meaning anything and the ad network treats the pattern as fraud.
10. Coins and cash rewards
The app has an optional rewards area where you can earn coins by completing surveys and offers from partner companies, and exchange them for real-world rewards such as gift cards. These rules apply only when you use it.
- Coins and gems are separate. Gems never convert to coins, coins never convert to gems, and nothing about gems in section 9 is changed by this section.
- The exchange rate is fixed and disclosed: 1,000 coins equal 1 US dollar. There is no wheel, no mystery box and no element of chance anywhere in rewards. If the rate ever changes, the change applies from the moment it is shown in the app and on this page, and never to coins you have already asked to withdraw.
- Earning is free. You never have to buy anything, or spend gems, to earn or withdraw coins.
- Earnings are confirmed before they unlock. Coins from surveys and offers are held for a confirmation period (normally up to 14 days) because partners can reverse fraudulent or cancelled completions. Your balance screen shows held and withdrawable coins separately.
- Withdrawals have limits. Your first withdrawal is a small one, and the standard tier opens after it. New accounts must reach a minimum age and show real earnings from more than one source before the first withdrawal. There is one withdrawal request open at a time, and a yearly cap of 550 US dollars in payouts per player.
- Suspected abuse freezes a request; a person decides. We may hold, freeze or refuse withdrawals where the checks described in our privacy policy indicate fraud or abuse, and we may close rewards access for accounts that break section 15. A refusal always carries its reason in the app, and you can contest any decision by writing to the address in section 21.
- Gift cards come from their issuers. A delivered gift card is subject to the issuing company's own terms, and our responsibility for a withdrawal ends when the code we bought for you is delivered and valid.
- Availability varies. Rewards, partners and withdrawal products may be unavailable in some countries, and cash-reward features may require you to verify your age where the app store requires it.
- Taxes are yours. You are responsible for any tax obligations your rewards create where you live.
11. Purchases and refunds
The app sells one-time purchases only: gem packs, and a one-off "remove ads" purchase. There is no subscription.
Google Play takes the payment, not us. Every purchase goes through Google Play's billing system and is also governed by Google's own terms. We never see or hold your card number, your bank details or your billing address. What reaches our server is a purchase receipt token, which we send back to Google to check the purchase is real before anything is credited.
| Who | What they handle | Their terms |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play | Taking payment, order history, refunds | Google Play Terms of Service |
| Google Play refunds | Whether a purchase can be refunded, and how to ask | Google Play refund policies |
| Google (AdMob) | The ads shown in the app | Google Privacy Policy, and how Google uses data from apps that use its services |
Refunds. We do not process refunds and we have no refund mechanism of our own. Ask Google Play, through your order history in the Play Store or the refund page linked above. Google decides. Any legal right you have to cancel or to a refund under the consumer law where you live is unaffected by this paragraph.
What a purchase gets you. Gem packs credit gems to the account that bought them. Once gems are spent they are spent, and we do not restore spent gems.
Remove ads. This removes the banner and the interstitial ads. It does not remove rewarded ads, because those are optional and you choose to watch them in exchange for gems.
Remove ads follows the purchase, not the person. This matters if your account is anonymous. The entitlement sits on one account at a time. If you reinstall and the app restores your purchases, the entitlement moves to the account you are using now and is taken off the account that held it before. One purchase always means one ad-free account, never two. Link a Google account if you want your purchases to stay put.
If you delete your account, restoring purchases through Google Play can bring the ad-free entitlement back onto your new account. Gems cannot come back that way — a gem pack is consumed when it is credited.
12. Ads
The app is free and is paid for by ads served through Google AdMob. Rewarded ads are optional. Banners and interstitials are not, unless you buy the ad-free purchase.
We do not choose the individual ads. Ad content comes from Google. If you see an ad that is broken, offensive or a scam, tell us at support@blmapp.se with a screenshot and we will pass it on, but the ad is not ours and we cannot pull it directly.
Where Google's consent framework applies, the app asks you before ads load and you can change your answer later under "Ad privacy options" in Settings. What data ads involve is described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Your questions, and what we do with them
You keep ownership of what you write. You are not signing it over to us.
What you do give us, by submitting a question, is permission to use it in the app: a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and display it inside Would You Rather. That permission lasts as long as the question is in the app. It is deliberately no wider than what the app actually does with a question, and it matches what the Privacy Policy tells you happens to one.
You confirm that you wrote it, and that it does not break the rules in section 5 or anyone else's rights.
Approved questions stay after you delete your account. Other players have voted on them, so they remain in the app, with your account identifier replaced by a placeholder. Nothing links them back to you. Questions of yours that are not publicly approved at that moment — pending, rejected or hidden — are deleted with your account, including a question that was approved once and has since been hidden. Section 16 has the whole list.
If you want an approved question of yours taken down, withdraw it in the app while you still have the account, or email support@blmapp.se.
14. Our part of the app
Everything that is not player-submitted — the app itself, its code, its artwork, its name, and the built-in question sets — belongs to us or to our licensors. You get permission to use one copy of the app on devices you control, for your own personal, non-commercial entertainment. That is the whole of the permission. Nothing else is granted.
15. Things you must not do
- Automate the app, script it, or use anything other than the official app to reach our servers.
- Interfere with the checks that keep the game fair: rate limits, integrity checks, moderation, or the vote system.
- Farm rewards — through extra accounts, emulators, faked ad views, or repeating actions to inflate a balance.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law says you may.
- Attack the service: overload it, probe it for weaknesses, or try to reach data that is not yours.
- Come back with a new account after a suspension.
- Use the app, or anything in it, to build a competing product.
If you find a security problem, please email support@blmapp.se rather than making it public.
16. Ending your use of the app
You can end it at any time. Open Settings and choose Delete account. That happens straight away and cannot be undone. It removes your profile, your gems, your unlocks, your blocks, your notification tokens and your own vote history; it deletes questions of yours that are not publicly approved at that moment — pending, rejected or hidden; and it replaces your account identifier with a placeholder on approved questions and on reports you filed. Your login is destroyed last. The app then starts you again with a fresh anonymous account.
Uninstalling is not the same thing. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or anything stored on our servers. Delete the account first if that is what you want.
Deleting your account without the app
If you cannot use the in-app route — because you have already uninstalled the app, or cannot open it — you can ask us to delete the account at dreamlabapps.com/delete-account, without installing anything and without logging in.
Bear in mind that accounts are anonymous, so a request made from outside the app has to give us enough to identify the account — the device, and any Google account linked to it. Without that we may not be able to find it.
What outlives the deletion
- Approved questions you submitted, with your identifier replaced by a placeholder.
- Reports you filed, with your identifier replaced by a placeholder, so the moderation record stays honest.
- Rooms and Duels you took part in, until they expire on their own.
- Purchase records, which we keep for seven years because Swedish bookkeeping law requires it, and which also stop the same receipt being redeemed twice. The Privacy Policy gives the detail.
Those expiries are enforced by the database itself, under automatic expiry policies that are active on the live project. The Privacy Policy linked above sets out how long each kind of record lasts.
We can end it too. We can suspend or delete an account, remove content, or stop offering the app or any part of it. Where it is reasonable to do so we will give notice, but for a serious breach of section 5 or section 15 we can act immediately and without warning.
If we suspend or close your account for breaking these terms, gems on it are lost and are not refunded.
Sections 12, 13, 16, 17 and 19 continue to apply after your account ends.
17. The app is provided as it is
We do our best, and we are not promising perfection. The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of content you dislike, and we do not warrant that a question written by another player is accurate, sensible or inoffensive. To the extent the law allows, we exclude the implied warranties that would otherwise apply.
Some of the app runs online. Servers go down, releases have bugs, and features change or disappear between versions.
The questions in this app are entertainment. Nothing in them is advice — not medical, legal, financial or otherwise — and nothing in them should be acted on.
None of this takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live. In some countries those rights cannot be excluded, and in that case the exclusions above apply only as far as the law allows.
18. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost data or lost game progress.
- We are not liable for what other players write or do, or for ads served by Google.
- Where we are liable, our total liability to you for everything connected with the app is limited to the greater of what you paid us through the app in the twelve months before the claim, or EUR 50.
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights stand regardless of this section.
19. Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. When we do, we update the effective date at the top of this page and publish the new version here, at dreamlabapps.com/terms, which is the page the Terms of Use link in the app's Settings screen opens.
We are not promising an in-app notice, because the app does not currently have a way to show one. If that changes, this section changes with it. Check this page from time to time. Using the app after a change means you accept the new version; if you do not accept it, delete your account and uninstall the app.
20. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Sweden, and the Swedish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the app.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, nothing in these terms takes away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you can always bring proceedings in the courts there.
Before going to court, please write to us at support@blmapp.se. Most things are settled that way. Swedish consumers can also take a dispute to the National Board for Consumer Disputes, Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN).
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
