This is the fastest route and the one we recommend. It is self-service, it runs immediately, and it does not go into a queue or wait for anyone to read an email.
You need an internet connection, because the deletion is carried out on our servers rather than on your phone. When it finishes, the app clears its local data and starts you again as a fresh anonymous guest with a new account id. The old account is gone.
If the app tells you the deletion stopped part way through, tap Delete account again. Every step is safe to repeat, and a second attempt continues from where the first one stopped rather than starting over. Your login is destroyed last, on purpose, so that a failure anywhere earlier leaves you an account you can still use to try again.
Use this route if you have already uninstalled the app, if you cannot get the app to open or connect, or if you would simply rather we did it.

In the body of the email, tell us as much as you can from the list in section 3, and say clearly that you want the account deleted rather than only a copy of your data.
Never send us a password, a card number or any part of your payment details. We do not need them, we cannot use them, and we do not hold them — Google Play handles all payment.
This is the genuinely hard part, and it is fairer to say so than to let you wait for an answer we cannot give.
Would You Rather does not ask you to sign up. The app creates an anonymous account for you the first time you open it. There is no username, no email address and no password attached to it. Unless you chose to link a Google account, there is nothing about you for us to search for. An email arriving from an address we have never seen is, by itself, not something we can match to an account.
So please send whatever of these you still have. Any one of them may be enough; more of them is better.
id: followed by six characters — for example id:a1b2c3. Those six characters are the beginning of your account id. If you still have the app, or a screenshot of it, copy them exactly. If you cannot give us any of these, we may not be able to identify your account, and we will tell you so plainly rather than leave you waiting. We will not ask you for identity documents for this, and we are not required to collect extra personal data about you purely to make an anonymous account findable. If an account cannot be identified, nothing in it can be linked back to you either — but we will not claim to have deleted something we could not find.
If you can open the app at all, section 1 avoids this problem completely: the app already knows which account it is signed in to.
The in-app route in section 1 is immediate. There is no queue and no waiting period.
Email requests are handled by a person, not by an automated system, and we work through them as soon as we can. We are not going to invent a response time we cannot keep, so here is the honest position instead.
If you hear nothing at all, check your spam folder and then email us again — one lost message is the commonest reason a request goes quiet.
Both routes run exactly the same deletion on our servers. Some things are removed outright, some are kept but stripped of any link to you, and a few are kept because the law requires it or because other players are relying on them. The table says which is which.
| What | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| Your login | Deleted. The authentication record is destroyed, including the email address, Google account id, name and photo URL held on it if you had linked a Google account |
| Your profile: gems, streak, unlocked categories, favourites, the list of players you blocked | Deleted, along with everything else stored underneath your account |
| Your personal vote history, the copy kept under your account | Deleted |
| Your push notification token | Deleted, so we can no longer reach that device |
| Questions you submitted that are still pending, or were rejected or hidden | Deleted. They were never public |
| Questions you submitted that were approved and are in the game | Kept, but anonymised. The question stays; your account id is replaced with a placeholder and any author name is removed. Other players have already voted on these, and deleting them would rewrite everyone else's game. Anonymising strips the link to a person, which is what deletion is for |
| Reports you filed about other players' questions | Kept, with the author rewritten. Your account id is replaced with a placeholder, so a moderator can still see that a question was reported without seeing who reported it |
| The vote record stored against each question you voted on | Kept, carrying your internal account id. This is the one identifier the deletion does not currently reach, and it is listed here rather than quietly left out. It records only which of the two options was chosen |
| The public percentage split shown on each question | Not adjusted. Vote totals hold no personal data, and rewriting public counts to remove one person would only corrupt them |
| Purchase records | Kept for seven years, because Swedish bookkeeping law (bokföringslagen) requires accounting records to be retained for seven years. A record holds a one-way hash of the Google Play purchase token, the account id, the product, the platform, the gems granted and the date. It never contains card or bank details |
| Rooms you took part in | Expire on their own clock. The Room record, which is where the name you typed is held, is deleted automatically 6 hours after the Room was created. Each answer runs on a separate 6-hour clock counted from when you sent it, so an answer given late in a Room can survive until roughly 12 hours after the Room started. This applies after account deletion too |
| Duels you took part in | Expire on their own clock. The Duel record, which is where both display names and the result are held, is deleted automatically 7 days after the Duel was created. Each player's answers run on a separate 7-day clock counted from when that player answered, so answering an open challenge on day 6 keeps those answers until roughly day 13. This applies after account deletion too |
| Anti-abuse records, reward-claim markers and short-lived join codes, which carry your account id | Expire automatically within 30 days — rate-limit records at twice the relevant limit window, reward-claim markers and join codes within 7 days, event records within 30 days |
| Crash reports | Held by Google, on Google's own schedule for Firebase Crashlytics. We do not attach your account id, email or display name to crash reports, which also means there is no way to look them up for one person and remove them |
| Data stored on your phone | Cleared when you delete the account from inside the app, and removed with the app when you uninstall. If you delete by email, anything still on a phone you own goes when you uninstall |
The full retention table, and the list of which Google services receive what, is in the Privacy Policy.
Removing the app from your phone deletes the copy on your phone. It deletes nothing on our servers.
It is also the one action that makes deletion harder afterwards. Because the account is anonymous, uninstalling takes away the only place your player id was ever shown, and reinstalling does not bring the old account back — it creates a brand new one. If you are planning to uninstall and you want the account gone, delete it first, from Settings, while the app is still there.
BL Apps Management AB is the data controller for the data described here. As well as deletion, you can ask us to confirm what we hold about you, correct it, give you a copy of it in a portable form, or restrict or object to how we use it. Write to support@blmapp.se. Everything in section 3 about identifying an anonymous account applies to those requests in the same way.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. In Sweden that is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY). You may also complain to the authority where you live.
